Heriz (also known as the city of the miracle of broken lines) is located in the northwestern part of Iran in the Azerbaijan Province.
The art of carpet weaving of this area, with its rich heritage of pure and primitive designs, somehow has roots in the life of free people and with the culture of that region. The presence of the fire temple of Azargashb, which dates back to the first millennium BC, is an example of such cultural heritage.
In the art of carpet weaving, it is the mental work, rather than pre-…. , which breaks curved lines and becomes a miracle in the form of broken lines.
As some art historians have indicated, the patterns and colors of the Heriz carpet
are considered ‘primitive’ because they show the courage, intimacy, and honesty that are specific signs of the primitive (local?) art.
